Combine cranberries and sugar in a food processor and pulse:

Combine flour and sugar and cut butter into the mixture:

Stir in remaining ingredients, knead the dough, and shape into a log:

Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours:

Slice dough, coat in sugar, and bake for 12-15 minutes:

These festive cranberry orange cookies are sure to become a holiday favorite!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ Cups AP Flour
  • ¾ Cups Sugar (divided)
  • ½ Cup Dried Cranberries
  • 1 Cup Butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1 tsp Almond Extract
  • Zest of 1 Orange
  • 2 Tbsp of Fresh Orange Juice
  • Additional Sugar for coating cookies

Instructions

    1. Combine cranberries and ¼ cup sugar into the food processor and pulse until broken down into smaller pieces.
    2. Combine flour and remaining sugar in a large bowl.
    3. Cut butter into flour mixture. You want very fine crumbles.
    4. Stir in almond extract, cranberry mixture, orange zest, and orange juice
    5. Knead the dough until it comes together and then form it into a ball. If it is too crumbly, add more orange juice 1 tbsp at a time.
    6. Shape into a log about 2 inches in diameter; wrap in plastic wrap. 
    7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, up to 72 hours.
    1. Preheat Oven 325° F
    2. Cut slices into ¼ inch thick cookies.
    3. Coat cookies in sugar.
    4. Place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until set.
    5. Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
