There’s no better time than right now to teach your kids how to think critically, especially in the world that we live in. It’s such an important skill to have and that’s why I’m so excited about Tell Me A Story, by The Critical Thinking Co!
What is The Critical Thinking Co.?
The Critical Thinking Co is an award-winning company with products that have helped students improve their academic skills using reading, writing, math, science, and history all while sharpening the mind.
Through analysis, students are able to think deeper in their understanding of topics which helps produce critical thinking. Michael Baker, President of the company states: “If we teach children everything we know, their knowledge is limited to ours. If we teach children to think, their knowledge is limitless.”
A great thing about The Critical Thinking Co is that they don’t teach lessons through drills, memorization, or tests but rather through “empowering the mind.” with their fun, motivating, and effective program.
They have a variety of products for students that range from ages 3 all the way up to ages 18+. A few of the products that they have are:
- Logic – Building Thinking Skills Beginning 2 (Grade PreK | Ages 3-5)

What Is Tell Me A Story?
Tell Me A Story, is an award-winning Pre-K through 1st-grade storybook that is full of fun and engaging stories. Through these stories, students are able to tell the story by simply looking at the pictures. On the corresponding page of each picture are questions to help guide and engage the student which helps them think critically about the story.
While students are telling the story from the picture, they are also learning pre-reading skills as well as:
- Observation
- Identifying and evaluating evidence
- Comparing and contrasting shapes and objects
- Inference (evidence-based prediction)
- Cause and effect
- Identify and describe a sequence of events
How We Used Tell Me A Story
We used Tell Me A Story during our read-aloud time with my preschooler and kindergartener. We read 2 stories a day, 2-3 days a week. My kids absolutely love this storybook! They have so much fun looking at the pictures and then retelling the story. I loved listening to them bring each story to life in their own way and watching them think through the engaging questions.
How Much Does Tell Me A Story Cost?
This is available as both a physical book and a digital PDF for $19.99 each. Also, you can download a free sample before you buy!
My Thoughts On Tell Me A Story
I’m a fan! This book is brilliant. The illustrations are beautifully done, the questions are engaging and it definitely kept the attention of both the kids. I also like how as the book went on, the pictures got a little more detailed which I thought really helps with focusing on the picture to see what’s there.
I highly recommend Tell Me A Story, by The Critical Thinking Co! It is a great tool to help teach younger learners how to thinking critically for themselves which is a skill that’s much needed today!
