American History Unit Study

History is such an important subject. Learning about the past, both the good and the bad, is wise. In today’s day and age, knowing your History will help our children know how to either refute or defend certain aspects of it. Especially when truth is being muddled.

When looking for an American History Unit Study, it was important for us to use a curriculum that wasn’t biased towards a particular political party, or philosophical ideology. I was so happy to find the American History Unit Study from Sonlight which provides an excellent, hands-on way to help teach history.

This post is sponsored by Sonlight. My time was compensated however all opinions are my own.

What is the American History Unit Study?

The American History Unit Study from Sonlight is consumable, and is great for helping children ages 8+ learn about American history in a creative, hands on way. It is full of activities related to early explorers, the Revolution, and covers early Native Americans through the 1850s.

How We Used The American History Unit Study

We used this with my 4th grader to supplement history. On a 4 day school week, she completed 1 to 2 projects per week.

I love the open and go nature of this unit study! This kit comes with all the materials you need (besides colored pencils, tape, glue stick, glue gun, and scissors) and includes:

  • Instruction booklet, with many full-color photos that illustrate each project
  • Pre-made lap book folder
  • Paper in different colors
  • All the pre-printed materials necessary to complete the lap book
  • Double-sided tape, glue sticks and bottle of glue
  • Miscellaneous materials like toothpicks, burlap, velcro, etc.

She looked forward to starting this unit study because she loves lap books! I knew this would be a great fit for her because of how much she loved working on the US Elections Unit Study from Sonlight.

How Much Is The American History Unit Study?

This American History Unit Study costs $68 and is consumable so it is recommended you purchase one for each of your children if you have multiple learning at the same time. You can also try Sonlight for free and it is such a great choice for homeschoolers with a biblical worldview. I have enjoyed adding Sonlight subjects to our homeschool.
