Prioritize Time With God

Prioritizing time with God is first and foremost. This time is not only beneficial for your soul, but it is a great way to start your day by putting God first. Spend time in prayer and in God’s Word to fill yourself up before the day brings its challenges.

I love sitting with my Bible, a good book, and a cup of coffee in the mornings but sometimes life doesn’t present quiet mornings. In that case, I enjoy listening to an audio Bible and solid sermons that exegete Scriptures. 

Keep Things in Perspective

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stresses of homeschooling. Remembering why you chose to homeschool helps us focus on the big picture. Focus on discipling your children, unique experiences, creating lifelong love of learning, quality time spent with them and more. Not every day will be perfect, and that’s okay (and normal).

I try to celebrate the small wins and keep moving forward. When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back and reflect on how far we’ve come and take a look at the bigger picture.

Establish A Routine

Having a daily schedule provides structure and predictability, which can be comforting for both you and your children. Planning your day with blocks of time dedicated to different activities like schoolwork, chores, meals, and free time, etc helps your days run much smoother. 

Once a routine is established, it is equally important to remain flexible. Life happens, and sometimes your schedule needs to shift and when it does, go with the flow rather than get frustrated. Using a planner helps me move things around when life shifts unexpectedly and gives me a visual reference which helps me keep track. My home runs much more efficient with routines in place.

 

Prioritize Health

As a homeschool mom, you give so much to your family, but it’s vital to fill your own cup too. Carve out time for activities that recharge both your mental and physical health and bring you joy. Whether it’s reading, exercising, praying, crafting, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, your health isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

This is something I’ve had to learn since becoming a mom. I need to remember to take time for my health because my family depends on me too. Even something as simple as scheduling a doctor’s appointment is a great way to prioritize my health.

These are all great tips! One of the things that has really helped me this past school year was to learn how to crochet. It is a fairly inexpensive hobby, doesn’t require electricity, is portable and I really love making things for those I love. I can learn how to do it from the comfort of my home. Plus it’s relaxing!
