Comprehension and literacy are some of the most important things children should learn. I love finding ways where I can provide more opportunities for my children to not only read but also learn how to think critically about what they are reading. When I learned about The Crickets in Times Square Study Guide by Progeny Press, I knew it would be a great fit for my bookworm.
Who Is Progeny Press?
Progeny Press provides study guides for literature from a Christian perspective. Their mission is what drew me in which states: “To teach our children to think clearly, to understand literature, and to rely on the scripture for truth and values, and enjoy themselves while they do it!” I knew that they would be a reliable and great company to use.
Progeny Press provides many different resources including study guides, e-guides, a bookstore, Bible study, theatrical plays for grades k-12.
How We Used The Crickets in Times Square Study Guide
The great thing about the Progeny Press study guides is that they are digital, reproducible, interactive, and can be used for multiple children. The study guide comes with a teacher’s guide/key but does not come with the book, which I ended up purchasing separately from an online retailer. The book can also be purchased directly from their website.
This study guide is targeted for grades 4-6, however, my 2nd grader reads above her grade level and this guide, along with the book was perfect for her. We simply added the book to her quiet reading time and she would then answer the questions in the guide later. She was able to work through most of the questions independently but needed help on a few for each chapter.

This study guide is available for $17.99 as a digital download. It can then be either printed out or used digitally as a fill-in-the-blank PDF.
My Thoughts On The Study Guide
This study guide was well written, in-depth, and really helped with comprehending the book. I really like that it was written by professing Christians and is approached with a Biblical Worldview lens. My daughter also enjoyed using the study guide as well as reading the book. I would definitely recommend the study guides by Progeny Press!
