Teaching our children about money is one of those life skills that can easily get pushed aside in the middle of everything else we’re trying to teach.
We’re focused on reading, math, science, history, and all the other subjects that fill our homeschool days, but learning how to wisely handle money is something our children will eventually need every single day. Learning about earning, saving, spending, budgeting, and making wise financial choices can give children a foundation that will serve them well long after their homeschool years are over.

What Is Buck Academy?
Buck Academy is a family-owned business written and illustrated by husband and wife team Dustin and Febyolla Goss. They started this business to teach their son about money when they couldn’t find any simple resources about money for kids.
The character Buck takes on the persona of a dollar and then, gives basic lessons on how money works. According to Buck Academy, the goal is to “create a new society of young savers and investors.”
Using Buck Academy
Money literacy is about so much more than knowing how much a dollar is worth.
Helping our children develop habits and decision-making skills that they will carry with them into adulthood is an important life skill. Learning how to save instead of spending everything immediately, thinking carefully before making a purchase, understanding where money comes from, and recognizing the importance of wise choices are all valuable lessons.
I also love that money lessons can naturally become part of everyday family life. Children can practice counting money, setting savings goals, comparing prices, helping with a budget, or thinking through a purchase. These ordinary moments can become meaningful opportunities to teach responsibility and good stewardship.
From Baby Buck How Much Am I for younger children to Buck Making Cents and the Quick Cents To A Buck workbook for older kids, these resources make it easier to bring money literacy into your homeschool without turning it into a complicated subject.
We used the books as both a read-aloud and during quiet reading time. For extra, we discussed more of what was read for comprehension and then applied the learning by playing with fake money and matching it to the pictures in the book.
The books have pictures of coins in the books foiled so that they shine and have a real look to them.

My Thoughts On Buck Academy
Buck Academy provides a fun way to introduce these concepts through books and activities that children can actually engage with. Whether you’re looking for an introduction for a younger child or additional practice for an older elementary student, these resources give you an easy starting point for bringing financial literacy into your homeschool.
Our children will eventually have money of their own to manage. Giving them opportunities to learn about it while they’re still under our guidance is a worthwhile investment in their future.
These books are so fun and cute! My kids loved reading them and touching the foiled coins. It makes learning about money fun and engaging. I would recommend these books for money learning fun!
