There’s something about the turn of a new year that invites reflection, isn’t there? Everywhere you look, people are talking about “new beginnings,” fresh goals, and big plans. And while resolutions can feel overwhelming (or honestly, a little discouraging), the new year doesn’t have to feel heavy.
Why? Because for the believer, God’s mercies are new every morning. We don’t have to wait until January 1st to start again, but the new year does give us a natural pause to step back, lift our eyes, and ask the Lord to search our hearts.

As Christian moms, sanctification is part of our everyday walk. It’s slow. It’s humbling. And it’s deeply dependent on grace. No matter what the year ahead holds, we rest in this truth: our God is holy, sovereign, faithful, and good. Always!
And that alone gives me hope.
A Christian Mom’s Heart for the New Year
I’ll be honest, it’s never easy to look in the mirror and confront the places where I fall short. But Scripture reminds us that we don’t approach God in shame or fear. We approach Him with confidence, knowing He is gracious and ready to help.
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16
So with humility (and a whole lot of dependence on the Lord), here are a few areas I’m prayerfully working on this year. I share these not because I’ve “figured it out,” but because there is always hope and growth in Christ.
Prioritize Jesus in Everything
Above all else, my greatest desire is for Christ to be at the center of my life. I don’t want anything in my life to exist apart from Him.
One area I continually have to guard is my time in God’s Word. I often start strong… and then life creeps in. Distractions pile up. Good intentions fade. But I’ve learned this: when Scripture slips to the margins, everything else feels out of place.
This year, I’m recommitting to making time with the Lord non-negotiable, even if it looks different season to season. Listening to Scripture throughout the day has been especially life-giving for me, whether it’s while doing chores or late at night when I can’t sleep. Keeping my mind saturated with Truth changes everything.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

Be More Present at Home
Homeschooling and working from home is a blessing, but it also comes with its own challenges. When work and family share the same space, boundaries can blur quickly.
This year, I want to be more intentional about when I work so I can be fully present when my family needs me. That might mean earlier mornings or better time-blocking, but the goal is the same: less distraction, more presence.
Our children don’t just need our instruction, they need our attention, our warmth, and our example.
“Train the young women to love their husbands and children…” — Titus 2:4
Continue to Stand Firm in Truth
We’re living in a time when biblical truth is increasingly challenged, dismissed, or outright opposed. And while that can feel heavy, it has also deepened my resolve to stand firmly on the Word of God.
This past season has stirred a growing passion in me for apologetics, not out of anger or fear, but out of love for Christ and His Truth. I want to speak boldly, graciously, and faithfully, even when it’s uncomfortable.
“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation.” — Psalm 25:5
Choose Joy — Even When It’s Hard
If I’m being honest, joy doesn’t always come easily. Balancing marriage, motherhood, homeschooling, homemaking, work, and chronic illness can be exhausting. Pain and fatigue can wear down even the most patient heart.
But joy isn’t rooted in circumstances, it’s rooted in Christ. And it’s one of the fruits the Spirit grows in us over time.
This year, I’m choosing joy, not because life is easy, but because God is faithful. I don’t want my struggles to define my attitude or spill over onto those I love. I’m asking the Lord to help me cultivate joy even in the middle of hard days.
“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy…” — Psalm 126:2
Make More Memories Together
This one is close to my heart. Life moves quickly, faster than we ever expect. Somehow, the days feel long and the years feel short, all at once. I don’t want to look back wishing I had slowed down or said “yes” more often. I want to be intentional about creating memories now, not waiting for the “perfect” time or circumstances.
That means choosing connection over convenience. Laughter over perfection. Presence over productivity. Even on days when I’m tired or not feeling my best, I want to show up with intention and grace.
“O my Strength, I will sing praises to You…” — Psalm 59:17
Walking Forward by Grace
I can’t do life, or motherhood, without the sovereign grace and mercy of God. My prayer for this year isn’t perfection, but faithfulness. Not self-reliance, but deeper dependence on Christ.
If you’re stepping into the new year feeling weary, uncertain, or hopeful all at once, know this: God is already there. He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.
