Searching for a solid Christian homeschool curriculum can often be a challenge. If you’re a Reformed Christian family like us, you have pretty high standards for purchasing homeschool curricula. I’m sure you could imagine our excitement when we discovered Generations Homeschool Curriculum, a solid Reformed company that is theologically sound and offers a plethora of Christian discipleship resources.

What is Generations Homeschool Curriculum?
Generations’ vision is to pass on the faith to the next generation through the biblical family, discipleship, and education. They focus on six main areas:
- Family Discipleship
- Family Education
- Family Economics
- Family Culture
- Family Eldercare
- Worldview and Theology
In addition, Generations equip families and churches around the world through our daily radio programs, discipleship resources, curriculum, events, and retreats.
Generations offer a complete core curriculum option for grades K-12. Subjects include literature, character, history, worldview, science, math, and Bible.
How We Use History
It didn’t take me long to decide which subject we were going to start with Generations. History was at the top of the list and the one subject lacking in our homeschool. Since we do family style learning for history, we’ve been working through The Story of Jesus’ People textbook. So far it’s incredibly rich with biblical context.
This book is part of the Children’s Providential History Collection which is a 6-volume set for grades 1-6 and includes:
- The Story of Jesus’ People Textbook
- Taking the Middle East for Jesus Textbook
- Taking the Americas for Jesus Textbook
- Taking Asia for Jesus Textbook
- Taking Africa for Jesus Textbook
- Taking Europe for Jesus Textbook
In this set, children will see Jesus Christ’s reign across the earth and have a God-centered perspective of history. It also has an optional activity book that accompanies each textbook. I look forward to going through each of the 6 volume set with the kids.
Thoughts On Heidi
I also purchased their edition of the novel Heidi because it is on our homeschool book reading list. The Heidi novel is one of the most popular children’s novels ever published. What most people don’t know is that Heidi was originally written as a Christian novel in 1881. Unfortunately, modern republications of Heidi have removed the Christian content from the book completely. The goal of Generations’ republication of Heidi was to restore the original Christian content and share the vivid descriptions of sin, rebellion, God’s mercy, forgiveness, reconciliation, and faith. In this book, children will learn about prayer, the purpose of trials, the sovereignty of God, and the goodness of God.
I assign required reading books for the children to read during quiet time. My oldest was the first to read this book and she plowed through it and loved it!
How Much Is Generations Curriculum?
My penny-pinching self was happy to see that Generations Homeschool Curriculum is super affordable! That really comes in handy during these difficult financial times that we are living in. At the time we purchased, the Children’s Providential History Collection was on sale for $163 and the Heidi novel was on sale for $15.25. If you want to purchase the complete core curriculum sets for grades K-12, the price (as of March 2025) ranges from $100-$245.

My Thoughts On Generations Curriculum
The History books and Heidi have been a wonderful addition to our homeschool! The Heidi novel is absolutely wonderful and my daughter really enjoyed reading this book. I love the biblical application that it has throughout the book which was the spark of many wonderful conversations that she and I had as she read this book. This classic book is one that can be read over and over again!
The history collection is put together very well, and has rich biblical theology and is beautifully illustrated. It displays the sovereignty of God and how His hand guides human history. I am thoroughly impressed by how well done these books are!
I am 100% happy with our selections from Generations Homeschool Curriculum. We’re looking forward to using this curriculum for many years to come!
