Does a hybrid homeschool curriculum exist? Is it possible to blend textbook learning with online learning in a seamless way, yet be easy to follow? Could it include a biblical worldview? Well, yes, actually! The answer to all three can be found in Discover! Curriculum.

How Was It Used?
We were given Grade 2 Discover! ELA which focuses on consonants, vowels, and story structure. The set includes Workbook A (semester 1) and Workbook B (semester 2) as well as the instructor’s guide.
I added the textbooks to my son’s daily (4-day school week) checklist. Since he’s a pretty good reader, I only needed to sit with him through the first few lessons but now he is able to do most of it independently.
He didn’t do too much on the online version because he got frustrated with the layout and responsiveness. Although, he enjoyed the lessons that included Elephango, which is a separate program.
How Much Does It Cost?
Grade 2 Discover! ELA costs $117.50 for the complete set. I suggest downloading a sample lesson and a sample teacher’s guide to see if this would be a good fit for your child. These are located at the bottom of the item description to download.

My Thoughts?
Like my son, I’m not a fan of the online version. After testing it myself, I agree that the responsiveness is not great. The layout and structure of the platform could use some improvement to make it easier to navigate for a child. Although the cute penguin character does add some draw, it feels too clunky and does not have a good flow.
I do like the textbooks, though! The lessons are in-depth, detailed, and can be done independently which is a huge plus.
Overall, Discover! Homeschool Curriculum is a great resource. I do like that they offer an optional faith connections addon. We will continue using the textbooks, but for now, we will not do any digital work at this time. I may decide at a later date to revisit the digital portion with him, but as of now, we will skip it.
