Art is the one thing in our homeschool that our children LOVE to do without hesitation. When I say, “Time to do art!” they all come running with excitement! When the opportunity came to try out Art Core 2: Patining With Watercolor Pencils by ARTistic Pursuits, I couldn’t resist my own excitement.

What is ARTistic Pursuits?
ARTistic Pursuits is a whole-subject homeschool curriculum that features art instruction, art history, and art technique that encourages creative participation. Their approach to art allows children to visually see a variety of techniques used which then allows children to understand and use the concepts that they have learned.
This curriculum teaches the whole subject of art which makes it easier for parents. It features art instruction, art history, and art techniques that encourage creative participation.
For this review, we received Art Core 2 Painting With Watercolor Pencils.
How We Used ARTistic Pursuits?
All three of my kids used this program and they couldn’t wait to get started. Materials needed for the first lessons were mixed media paper, watercolor pencils, and sweep paint brush, and a water dish.
The first lesson was great and they created a color swatch and a color wheel which will help them in future lessons to learn how to blend colors. The CD makes it so much easier to follow along and press pause as needed.
We ended up doing several lessons to complete both the color swatch and the color wheel and I was happy that all three of the children completed these lessons without getting antsy or asking if we were finished yet.

How Much Is ARTistic Pursuits?
Art Core 2 offers three different packages. The one we received cost $49. They also offer an online course along with Art Core 2 that costs $69. And finally, they offer a set of materials needed for Art Core 2 that costs $96. We purchased our materials from a local store on sale for less.
My Thoughts On ARTistic Pursuits?
We absolutely love this curriculum! The lessons are easy to follow and they could last all school year by working through the book.
It’s safe to say that ARTistic Pursuits Art Core 2 comes highly recommended by me and all three kids!
